Web Design sign-off & Web Site Development end stage - publishing your Website to the Internet...
Following the necessary WEBcouk quality control checks on your website, (a part of the development process that ensures that all website design aspects have been followed), your website has to be published to the Internet (World Wide Web), to ensure access to all. After a "snagging" period of 14 days, a WEBcouk customer has the following choices for their web site:
1. Full Service Option - Essentially do nothing and remain with JPC / WEBcouk for website hosting, resolution of any malfunctions ("bugs"), any ongoing content updates and any ongoing enhancements required to be undertaken by our web developers. This is the most popular choice as it allows you to concentrate on your business and us to focus on what we do best! Over many years, we have constructed several cost effectiveness maintenance and support plans for this approach.
Please bear in mind that the most important content within your website can be managed by the WEBcouk content management systems as supplied as a standard part of the website design.
This option may or may not include an ongoing Search Engine Optimisation, (SEO), plan for your website dependant on how SEO fits within your overall marketing plan.
2. For some reason, the "full service" website option may not be appropriate. This can be for one or a combination of the following reasons:
a) You wish to update the website yourself using FTP - FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is a way to send and receive files on the Internet.
b) You want another website development company to take the website forward and handle any web design changes
c) The options provided by WEBcouk do not meet your needs and you need, for example, a separate SEO company to work on improving your website rankings in the major search engines. Please note WEBcouk can offer complementary SEO services in this case.
WEBcouk can continue to host your website whatever is decided - the first years hosting has been included at no extra charge as part of your website design and development project.
Although a bit complicated, it is possible in the extreme case to have WEBcouk host your website, WEBcouk improving your website, Company A also continuing to develop your website, Company B undertaking any SEO activity and let's say your company (or yourself) also enhancing it. All parties would require FTP access and there would have to be some mechanism to ensure that no two parties were updating the same part of the website at the same time.
One of the important issues to clarify with this approach, is who would be responsible if the web site starts to malfunction. If any errors are introduced by WEBcouk, then we will take responsibility for their resolution at no charge. If errors are introduced by others that cannot be rectified by them, then WEBcouk as an option can take responsibility for their resolution at a pre-agreed hourly rate. In the unlikely event that it cannot be agreed who has introduced a particular error to the web site; and WEBcouk staff are required to resolve it, then we will negotiate on a case by case and fair basis who is responsible for any charge on such an occasion.
